I have a need that is to include servers and desktop in GLPI, but a profile dont have to access the server information.

Today in GLPI this configuration is in the same screen "computer". It will be cool if create a new tipe of asset called "servers" with the same configuration of computer.

Hello,

We have the same issue, and we solved it using entities.

Regards,

Tomolimo

Or it may be visible only to the "Group in charge of the hardware" or "Technician in charge of the hardware"

Today, seven years later, I have a similar query: why is there no dedicated asset type for servers? Although there are chassis, racks, and server rooms, there are no asset types specifically for servers. If the asset type of a computer is used directly, it can be ambiguous, but using the chassis for server asset management is missing many attributes (or elements?). I am wondering which asset type should be used to manage server-related assets.

What is missing from Computers that make that type of asset unsuitable for servers? You can use the Type field in the Computers to differentiate types like Laptop, Desktop, Rack-Mount Chassis, Tower Server, etc.

你说的对,只是一开始没想明白而已。
